This page explains how TfL uses the personal information you supply for the administration of the Children’s Traffic Club London (CTCL). It also describes how long that information is kept for and the circumstances in which we might disclose it to a third party.
Personal information we hold
You can browse certain areas of this website without creating an account or providing any personal information.
If you have applied for a Member’s Pack or have created a CTCL account, the personal data we may hold includes:
Telephone or mobile number
Name of your child or children
Age or date of birth of your child or children
In certain circumstance we may collect photographs - for example if we run a competition and you submit an entry. These would only be published with your explicit consent.
Any sensitive personal information (such ethnic origin) that you may provide will only be used for the purpose of equalities monitoring. You do not have to supply this information in order to obtain a Member’s Pack or create an online account.
How we use your personal information
TfL and the companies that process personal information on our behalf use your personal information for customer services, the administration of CTCL, and customer research.
We will only send you information about TfL's offers and promotions if you choose to receive it. You can change your marketing preferences at any time.
TfL will not pass your personal information to any other organisation for marketing purposes without your prior consent.
Length of time we keep information
If your online account has not been accessed for 12 months, we will send you an email asking whether you wish to maintain the account for your child or children. If you confirm that you don’t wish to maintain your account, or if we don’t receive a reply to our email within 30 days, we will overwrite your personal information (and that of any children included on the account).
Keeping personal information secure
We take the privacy of our customers very seriously and a range of robust policies, processes and technical measures are in place to control and safeguard access to, and use of, personal information associated with CTCL.
The internet, however, is not generally a secure medium of communication and we cannot guarantee the security of any information you input on this website or send to us via the internet.
Sharing personal information
TfL has a contract with a third party service provider, Ten Alps Communicate, who provides the majority of the administration for CTCL and also hosts the CTCL website on behalf of TfL.
In some circumstances, disclosures of personal data to the police (and other law enforcement agencies) are permitted by the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), if they relate to the prevention or detection of crime and/or the apprehension or prosecution of offenders. Before any such disclosure takes place, the police are required to demonstrate that the personal data concerned will assist them in this respect. Each police request to TfL is dealt with on a strictly case-by-case basis to ensure that any such disclosure is lawful and in accordance with the DPA.
TfL and its service providers do not currently process any personal information relating to CTCL outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

CTCL privacy notice
Transport for London (TfL), its subsidiaries and service providers, will use your personal information and that of any children you register, for the purposes of operating Children's Traffic Club London, (including updates from time to time) and customer research. Your personal information will be properly safeguarded and processed in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
